Don't underestimate the pain in your throat — about tonsillitis —

Pharyngitis is an illness in which the tonsils located on both sides of the back of the throat become inflamed due to infection with bacteria or viruses. The inflamed tonsils become red and swollen, and may also contain white pus. This is accompanied by severe pain in the throat and fever.
If the infection becomes severe, pus accumulates around the tonsils (tonsillar abscess), causing intense pain and making it difficult to open the mouth, and also preventing food and fluids from being swallowed.
Especially for adults, they often don’t have time to take time off work to seek medical attention, which can lead to worsening symptoms. In Hanoi, the environment is especially susceptible to irritation of the mucous membranes due to temperature differences and air pollution, making it an environment where infections are more likely to occur.
Treatment primarily involves taking antibacterial and fever-reducing painkillers; however, if tonsillitis occurs three to four times a year, it may be considered a surgical procedure, and patients may also consider undergoing surgery upon returning to Japan.
If proper treatment is administered at an early stage, it may prevent the condition from worsening. Even if you experience discomfort or mild pain in your throat, do not try to force it and consult a specialist as soon as possible.
