11 kilometers southeast of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Thanh Chi Province once prospered from the production of baskets made of bamboo and rattan.
Currently, the material has been changed to plastic to continue the traditional culture.

How the plastic basket is made
We interviewed Mr. Tan Fong, founder of SHONAN VIETNAM, which produces and sells woven baskets made of recyclable plastic materials with beautiful colors and delicate techniques not found in other companies.
I was born in Van Phuoc Village, Thanchi Province. My hometown is well known as the birthplace of traditional bamboo and rattan work. When I used to live in Japan, a friend asked me for advice on how to promote Vietnamese basket bags in Japan, but it was difficult to obtain them. At that time, there were no suppliers of plastic baskets for Japan, so I decided to help.
The bags we made through trial and error were greatly appreciated by our Japanese customers. Since then we have worked together as business partners. It has led to the creation of new jobs for artisans who used to weave bamboo and rattan baskets in their hometowns. Now we are focusing on researching recyclable plastic materials to protect the environment."
Passing on the culture
Made from recyclable plastic materials for environmental protection, the cleverly crafted plastic baskets are durable, lightweight, and practical. While preserving traditional culture, the company creates designs that fit current lifestyles and trends.
These plastic baskets are made with the pride and passion of the village craftsmen, and the village's craft skills are passed down from generation to generation.

For the future
Phong established a plastic basket factory in Van Phuoc village to express his gratitude to Vietnam, his hometown, and Japan, his friend's hometown. Every day, Mr. Phuong works hard to create products that will bring joy to many people.
In the future, I would like to pass on my skills to people deep in the mountains who are in economic trouble and give them stable jobs. I would also like to expand Vietnamese plastic baskets throughout the world.
