In a residential neighborhood a little removed from the tourist areas of Hanoi city, there is a fishing pond beloved by local residents. This fishing pond, which we are introducing today, not only allows even beginners to enjoy it easily, but also allows you to taste the fish you catch right there.
The indoor shrimp fishing pond "Ho Cau Tom LiBe" in the Hong Ha district, which has been operating since 2018, is run by the Tran family. A large shrimp pond is set in the center of a building that looks like it was converted from a warehouse. Fishing enthusiasts sit on folding camping chairs in front of it, while they spend their time casting lines.
All the fishing rods and bait are provided, so you can just drop by without any preparation. The bait is made from a mixture of chicken cartilage and rice flour, and you attach it to a fishing hook and drop it into the water. You just watch the bait float and react when it makes a splash. The key is to quickly pull the rod up when it reacts.
Even if you’re new to fishing for shrimp, you don’t need to worry. Even if a beginner is hesitant to touch the bait, the staff will notice and offer gentle support. Instead, they’ll attach the bait for you. At first, you might struggle to catch shrimp, but once you get the hang of it, the moment you catch one is an emotional one.
The caught shrimp can be taken home as-is, but it is also possible to have them cooked in the on-site kitchen. Being able to enjoy freshly caught shrimp right there on the spot is a luxurious experience that is hard to find in Hanoi. The added thrill of eating while checking the catch is also quite interesting.
